Based in East Anglia, on the most easterly point of the British Isles, John Ward, is a renowned songwriter on the folk, roots and acoustic music scene and has 9 critically-acclaimed CDs and 2 published books to his name. John writes in a variety of styles, and is commissioned to write songs and music for various projects, but his heart is in folk and roots music. His songs receive national radio airplay, most recently by Mark Radcliffe on the BBC Radio 2 Folk Show and his most recent album/book, Congress, was twice broadcast in 5 serialised episodes on BBC Radio Suffolk. John's songs are sung and recorded by other artists on the folk scene.
Performing an eclectic mix of music, John tours extensively across the UK and beyond, mostly with his Trio, and sometimes as a duo with wife, Lynne. He is a fine musician, specialising in acoustic guitar, bass, harmonica and bodhran and is also an experienced 6-string guitar, bass and bodhran teacher. Besides writing and performing his own original music, he is a sought-after entertainer for private events, weddings and parties, and has a popular ceilidh band, Skiphire.
